Riverwalk Sign greets trail users at both the Moxham and Riverside Access Areas

  • Beautiful urban trail named for Jim Mayer, a well-respected conservationist who led extensive efforts in Johnstown and the region
  • 1.5 miles in length
  • Traces the Johnstown and Stony Creek Railroad built in 1891 by the Johnson Steel Company

Mayer Trail Aerial View
Aerial view of the James Mayer Riverwalk along the Stonycreek River beginning in Moxham in lower left corner to Riverside in upper right.

  • Quiet sanctuary in a busy urban setting
  • Excellent opportunity for bird enthusiasts to view many song bird species
  • Wild flowers explode with colorful blooms in spring and summer
  • Soothing sounds of Buttermilk Falls
  • Stonycreek River . . . a constant companion

Access Areas:

  • Moxham Access:  Pedestrian Access off of Bridge Street at the end of the Ferdale Bridge cannot be used at this time due to the construction project on the bridge.    However, both Pedestrian Access and Parking is provided in our lot one block back on Cleveland Street.
