Abandoned Mine Reclamation
Cambria County > Conservation District > Abandoned Mine Reclamation

The movement to reclaim abandoned mine sites has gained momentum as state, federal and private organizations have increased their commitment and resources to tackle...problems of health and safety. Numerous...agreements have been implemented...in the characterization of mine site hazards, development of mutually acceptable plans of remediation and sharing of actual cleanup requirements. Although there are major difficulties to overcome, signifiant progress continues to be made. National Reclamation of Abandoned Mines by Michael N. Greeley, USDA-Forest Service, Washington, DC
