Our mission is to diligently serve the citizens and courts of Cambria County, by keeping up to date accurate information, and by maintaining the security and integrity of all adult criminal records entrusted to the Clerk of Courts office.

Recognizing that the Clerk of Courts is an integral part of the criminal justice system, we pledge to provide prompt, courteous and professional service to all.

The Cambria County Clerk of Courts office handled approximately 3000 new adult criminal cases during the year 2008. The caseload has doubled since 1992.  All records, with the exception of those involving juveniles and court sealed records are open to the public.

Responsibilities of the Clerk of Courts
  • Maintain and secure adult criminal records.
  • Bail processing.
  • Collection and distribution of fines, costs and restitution.
  • Record all criminal filings, including verdicts and sentences.
  • Reporting dispositions to various state agencies.
  • Licensing of private detectives.
  • Appointment filings of various offices such as, constables, deputy constables, minority / majority inspectors and judge of elections.
  • Licensing of bondspersons.
  • Recording of tax collector bonds and reports.
  • Processing of appeals to superior, supreme and commonwealth courts.
  • Protection from abuse contempts.
  • Summary appeals.
  • Criminal background searches.
  • Filing waiver of extraditions.
