Portage Borough Council renewed the garbage contract with Pro Disposal at the December 7th, 2009 regular meeting. The garbage contract is for a three year period from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2012. Two options are available to the residents: the pre-paid bags or the curbside service that includes a free annual spring clean-up. The rates for the three year period are:
Curbside service/monthly $13.85 Pre-paid bags are $30.00 per 10
As a friendly reminder, the Borough solid waste ordinance states that every household in the Borough must have either the curbside service or the pre-paid bags to be in compliance. The pre-paid bag customers must at least purchase one pack of ten bags per year.

SPRING CLEAN-UP 2011
WILL BE HELD ON MAY 10TH AND 11TH
All accounts must be paid in full two weeks prior to clean up in order to participate. Yellow bag customers are not eligible for free clean up but are entitled to ½ price per item payable at the time of pick up.
Commercial customers are not eligible for clean up.
All items must be at curbside by 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled clean up day. There will be no return trips.
ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE PICKED UP INCLUDE:
Yard Waste paint cans
Car parts Tires
Construction or demolition materials
One large item per household
Refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners will be taken only after Freon is properly removed. Certification is required !!!!!!!!
