UPPER YODER TOWNSHIP GARBAGE SERVICE
WEEKLY LIMIT - is three (3) garbage cans or four (4) plastic bags. Garbage/Recycling should be at the curbside by 6:00 a.m. the day of collection.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR 2012
New Year's Day - Sunday, January 1, 2012 - regular schedule Monday-Thursday
Easter - Sunday, April 8, 2012 - regular schedule, no one affected
Memorial Day - Monday, May 28, 2012 - No trash pick-up on Monday - pick-ups the entire week will be one (1) day late.
4th of July - Wednesday, July 4th, 2012 - No trash pick-up on Wednesday - regular scheduled pick ups for Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday through Thursday will be one (1) day late.
Labor Day - Monday, September 3th, 2012 - no trash pick-up Monday - pickups the entire week will be one (1) day late.
Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 22th, 2012 - regular schedule Monday through Wednesday - no trash pick-up Thursday - Thursday and Friday routes will be picked up one (1) day late.
1st Day of Buck Season - Monday, November 26, 2012 - no trash pick-up Monday - pick-ups the entire week will be one (1) day late.
Christmas Day - Tuesday, December 25, 2012 - regular schedule pick up on Monday. No trash pick-up Tuesday. Tuesday through Thursday, pick up will be one (1) day late.
RECYCLING GUIDE FOR UPPER ODER TOWNSHIP'S RECYCLING PROGRAM
RECYCLING IS EASY. JUST FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE STEPS:
GLASS - CLEAR AND ALL COLORS
1. Rinse glass - labels can stay on
2. Remove all metal lids and rings
3. No window glass, light bulbs, pyrex or ceramics
4. Place in container (do not break)
PLASTIC
ONLY the plastics that show the number;
(1) - PET (Clear/Green Soda Bottles and some Water Jugs)
(2) - HDPE (Clear and Colored) Detergent and Milk Bottles or Jugs
Rinse and remove lids or metal rings. Crush if you need space
ALUMINUM AND BI-METAL BEVERAGE CANS
1. Rinse
2. Flatten, if desired, to save space
3. Place in container
TIN CANS
1. Rinse
2. Remove paper labels
3. Ends may be included

COLLECTION DAY - is Bi-Weekly (every other week) - on the same day as your regular garbage collection. Place container by curbside.
NOTE: The special recycling container issued by the Township remains the property of the Township and is assigned to the property address: Containers are to remain at the property should ownership change.
BENEFITS OF RECYCLING
** Recycling conserves energy and natural resources such as trees. It also conserves
valuable landfill space, thus prolonging the life of existing landfills
** Recycling enhances our environment and improves the quality of life
** Recycling will help achieve the Commonwealth's goal of reducing the total municipal solid
waste stream by 25%
** Recycling is mandatory per Upper Yoder Townhip Ordinance No. 223 adopted August,

MAY 2ND - MONDAY'S PICKUP -
MAY 4TH - WEDNESDAY'S PICKUP
MAY 10TH - TUESDAY'S PICKUP
MAY 12TH - THURSDAY'S PICKUP
All items must be boxed, bagged, bundled or containerized. Any small loose items dumped on the ground will be left at the curb. No return trips.
ITEMS EXCLUDED - Tires, car parts, car batteries, heavy metals (cast iron, steel, etc.), paints in liquid form (hardened or dry is fine - must remove lids), oil or any liquids, large appliances such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, dish washers, etc., any items containing freon (refrigerators, air conditioners, de-humidifiers, etc.), hazardous or bio0hazardous wastes

SPRING - week of April 25th FALL - week of Sept. 26th
The Township Road Department will start at one end of the Township and work their through the rest of the Township collecting brush. Any questions, call the Road Dept. at the Township garage (814) 255-2820.
Brush and trimmings only. If you remove an entire tree, you are responsible for its disposal. Brush is to be in lengths no longer than 8 feet and a diameter no larger than 2 inches. Leaves and trimming must be bagged or boxed. NO STUMPS. Piles must be uniform with all limbs in one direction to allow easier pickup.
